Physical Therapy Assistant
The University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson, Mississippi is seeking candidates for a Physical Therapy Assistant to support its missions of academics, healthcare, and research. Please see the position description and requirements below.
The Physical Therapy Assistant will work under the supervision of the Physical Therapist and provide Physical Therapy services to individuals who have impairments, functional limitations, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease, or other causes with a goal of improving functional outcomes, to provide education to other medical professionals, to provide prevention and wellness services, including screenings and health promotions.
Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant school.
Applicants must have a Mississippi licensure within the applicable time frame.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Physical Therapy procedures.
Knowledge of Anatomy, Physiology, and/or Kinesiology.
Skill in performing manual Physical Therapy techniques for patients.
Ability to implement Physical Therapy treatment programs.
Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.
Ability to instruct and motivate patients.
Ability to safely lift and physically manipulate patients.
